Just came across this next-generation iPhone 4G concept image which shows off a Super AMOLED screen, a front-facing camera for video conferencing via iChat, and an LED Flashlight on the backside for the 5 megapixel camera. We all know how AMOLED screens produces crisp and vivid contrasts compared to the traditional LED displays on iPhones. The recently announced Samsung Wave has gone a step further by introducing Super AMOLED display technology which is an improved version of AMOLED, seen on the devices like Nexus One.

The difference between the traditional LED on iPhone 3GS vs AMOLED display on Nexus One can be seen in the image below.

Nexus One vs iPhone 3GSYou can clearly see how washed-out the iPhone 3GS display (on top) looks in comparison to the one on Nexus One.

And here is that conceptual next-generation iPhone 4G image with Super AMOLED display, a front facing camera and LED flash. Credit for the image goes to an Italian forum member named Gekino.

Some files found in TelephonyUI.framework has strings with the term “VideoChat” which clearly indicates that the future version of iPhone and iPad will have video option right in the phone app itself.

iChat is likely going to be the app which will provide this functionality. Some references to “iChat” app can be seen in the screenshot below.

Gull1hack to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS New Bootrom Untethered?

Uncategorized | Friday March 5 2010 5:53 am | Comments (0) Tags:

A group of hackers are claiming to have found an exploit which will jailbreak iPhone 3GS with new bootrom and it will be untethered. The exploit appears to work not only in iPhone 3GS models with new bootrom, but also in all iPhone and iPod touch models.

gull1hack

This Exploit works on ALL iPhone and iPod Touches.

While booting, we overun the buffer memory, letting the iPhone think there is something wrong; But in the moment it tries to enter safe mode, we send a boot signal like Blackra1n or Redsn0w.

They have also posted a video demo which shows off the upcoming jailbreaking tool in action.

There is no ETA for gull1hack and whether it is for real or just another fake, we’ll know soon about it. In the meantime, you can follow our complete jailbreaking guide for iPhone 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPod touch 1G/2G using redsn0w 0.9.3, redsn0w 0.9.4, sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool 3.1.5. Unlocking can be done using ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.

For iPhone 3.1.2 firmware, you can use blackra1n, PwnageTool, redsn0w, sn0wbreeze, ultrasn0w and blacksn0w to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone and iPod touch.

UPDATE 1: Both Gull1hack and Blacksn0w V2 have been confirmed as fake tools. More info can be found here.

Folks behind the Gull1hack tool are also said to be working on a new unlocking tool dubbed Blacksn0w V2 which according to them will ultimately unlock the new iPhone 3.1.3 05.12.01 baseband on iPhone 3GS with new bootrom. I for one wont believe them until they come out with more proof of concept screenshot and videos.

Blacksn0w V2

As someone might noticed, the Gull1hack.app has the option to install Blacksn0w v2. Thats no mistake, it’s our Version of this unlock: There were only a few changes to make it work with the new Commcenter from 3.1.3!
So all people wich stay at baseband  05.07.11 will be able to unlock at 3.1.3!

Neither Geohot, nor the iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed the authenticity of the author and their Gull1hack/Blacksn0w tools.
