Final Fantasy I for iPhone has landed on the App Store, just 23 years after first launching on the NES. Promising extra dungeons, spruced up graphics and touchscreen controls, is this the RPG we were hoping for to wean us off our Tower Defense addiction? Read on and find out in our full Final Fantasy I for iPhone review.

Final Fantasy I for iPhone certainly fills a hole in the gaming selection on the App Store. Even now, the gameplay is addictive, and you’ll find yourself itching to jump back in, level up and make it through the dungeon to the next boss.

The turn based fighting system (If you’re the sort who can tolerate random battles) is also well suited to the iPhone. Because you have to double tap on an enemy you won’t accidentally make any wrong selections, and although that can mean slightly slower battles when you get stronger and end up facing weak enemies, it’s beneficial more often than not.

The controls have been ported to the touchscreen remarkably well in Final Fantasy I for iPhone. The on-screen d-pad works fine, and the menu has been smartly tucked away so that it’s only accessible when you stop moving. and doesn’t invade the small screen real estate otherwise. We did however notice that buttons and options were surprisingly unresponsive for an iPhone app, with prods often going unrecognised.

There has never been a shortage or rumors that  Netflix streaming is coming to the  iPhone. It just makes sense that eventually, the hot device and the hot service will meet. And that may be happening sooner rather than later if a survey being sent out by Netflix is any indication. As the site Hacking Netflix reports tonight, Netflix is asking certain users about their interest in streaming movies and television shows to the iPhone. Notably, this would apparently only work over WiFi, which is hardly surprising given AT&T’s reluctance to let stream-heavy fare on its network. Here’s the full text of what’s being asked in the survey:”Imagine that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on their iPhone. The selection availability to instantly watch includes some new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you instantly watch are included in your Netflix membership for no additional fee.Whenever you want to instantly watch content on your iPhone, your iPhone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network (such as one you might have at home or at work, or in public places like coffee shops, book stores, hotels, airports, etc.)If this functionality were available, how likely would you or someone in your household be to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on your iPhone via a Wi-Fi network?”So that’s obviously very straightforward. Clearly, Netflix is thinking about providing an app that would do this on the iPhone, iPod touch, and the upcoming iPad as well, but recent remarks by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings suggests that none of this is a priority for the company.Hastings has also noted in the past that eventually the service will likely be on the iPhone. But if they’re already gauging interest among users, hopefully it will be sooner than he’s let on in the past. As Hacking Netflix notes, earlier surveys from Netflix gauging interest in the Wii and PS3 consoles with Netflix were early indicators of the service on both of those devices.Of course, you have to wonder if Apple would approve such an app that would compete directly with iTunes.CrunchBase InformationNetflixiPhoneInformation provided by CrunchBase

This post will have no Tiger Woods jokes.

Tiger Woods has a serious problem. And there is absolutely no reason to encourage cheap laughter just because of an astonishing new iPhone app that makes it easier for you to cheat on your spouse, offer heinously regrettable insults, or employ a hitman–all without worrying that your texts will betray your true self.

So this app is called TigerText. So what? I am sure the golfer’s deep and troubling recent past did not enter into the creators’ heads when they named this ingenious little technological concoction.

TigerText, you see, erases your texts. It makes them go away. It makes them disappear like the midriff of a magician’s assistant. What is so beautiful is that not only do your texts disappear from your own phone records, they also vamoose from the phone of your unfortunate recipient.

You can even decide when they vamoose. After a minute. Or, if you are fond of self-torture, after any time period up to 30 days.

iPhone sales are coming in ahead of estimates, according to a report from analyst firm Canaccord Adams.

Analyst Peter Misek reiterated his Apple buy rating and $250 (U.S.) price target in a note released on Monday, according to Barron’s. CNBC reports that Mr. Misek raised the company’s iPhone estimate from 7.2 million to 7.9 million units.

During Apple’s recent first-quarter results, iPhone shipments climbed a massive 100 per cent compared to the same period last year, helping grow the company’s overall revenue by more than 30 per cent to $15.68 billion.

Up to this point, consumers have largely driven Apple’s iPhone growth, although the technology is said to be creeping into corporate America. Apple’s exclusive iPhone deal with AT&T (T-N25.000.190.77%) has been said to end this year, and there have been rumblings that Verizon (VZ-N28.990.060.21%) is in line to snap up the popular smartphone. Last week, however, multiple industry sources and Wall Street analysts were wondering if AT&T’s exclusivity with the iPhone would be extended.

Canaccord says the Verizon iPhone is unlikely to arrive until fiscal 2011. Misek added that version 4.0 of the iPhone operating system will probably launch sometime between March and June, according to Barron’s.

The analyst also warned that Apple’s iPad debut, scheduled for this month, could be “limited in size or potentially delayed by component shortage and production issues”. Apple shares rose $4.23, or 2.07%, to $208.85 on Monday, just outpacing the broader advance in tech stocks that saw the Nasdaq rise 1.39%.
