The security researchers developed an undisclosed attack on the iPhone’s mobile Safari browser to get access to a phone and then run a program that sent the phone’s SMS messages to a Web server.

It is the first fully functioning attack on an iPhone since Apple released version 2 of the device in 2008, said Charlie Miller, the hacker who is set to follow the iPhone attack with an exploit he hopes will hack into the contest’s MacBook Pro (his takeaway, should he succeed: the laptop and $10,000). continue reading…

Mobile phone cameras, no matter how many megapixels they have still tend not to be as good as a regular digital camera. I’ve actually only seen one camera phone that actually takes quite nice shots (the 8 megapixel LG Renoir). Others just make do although some are obviously better than others.

The InVisage Technologies QuantumFilm chipset aims to sort that problem out by using quantum dots that can absorb about 90 – 95% of the light that hits the sensor allowing for better quality images in varying light conditions with pictures being captured up to 12 megapixels in size. Compare that 90 – 95% to a regular mobile phone camera sensor (which gets about 20% at most) you potentially have a great camera.

August 26 2009 was the day when we posted about the Nintendo Wii Football controller patent. We thought at the time that if it were to be created it would account for many cracked plasma screens with people accidentally throwing it towards the screen. I personally didn’t think it would actually happen… but CTA Digital have gone and made the Wii Football Controller a reality.

Perhaps a company needs to step up and make a HDTV protector that you can throw over your 42 inch screen to prevent it from getting cracked and smashed. Although it is made of soft foam, there is still a plastic Wii controller sat within that could cause damage.

he Acer Aspire One running the Intel Atom N270 processor is currently on clearance over at Amazon. As it runs the Intel Atom N270 processor, it is classed as being slightly older due to the launch of the Intel Atom N450 netbooks recently.

The netbook it’s self is still decent though with the N270 processor running at 1.6GHz. The netbook has 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB SATA drive that spins at 5400RPM. For connectivity it has wireless built in that connects at 801.11b/g speeds.

The netbook runs the Windows 7 Starter operating system and the battery has a capacity of 2200mAh. The downside is with a netbook with just a 3-cell battery is that it does have a fairly low battery life of just over 3 hours which compared to the ASUS 1005PE that has over 14 hours of usage on a single charge, it seems kind of puny. However, the ASUS 1005PE does cost around $100 more, but you do get a slightly faster processor, larger hard drive and wireless N built in.

The Acer Aspire One N270 (older) netbook is available here costing $268.51.

If you want a little more power I’d recommend going for an Intel Atom N450 netbook with a number of them being available here.

However, if you only need a netbook to get you online while you sit in front of the TV, or just want access to documents and email/web while on the move the Acer Aspire One running the N270 will be fine.
