Acer has unveiled two new convertible tablets in the form of the Acer Aspire 1825PT and 1825PTZ. Both tablet PCs feature a 11.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display and run on Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium. The high-end Acer Aspire 1825PT comes equipped with a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, a 4GB of RAM, and a 250GB hard drive. Meanwhile, the Acer Aspire 1820PTZ has a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU4100 processor, a 250GB hard drive, and a 3GB of RAM.

We’ve got some more details on Sony’s beefed-up VAIO Z series of laptops which were announced at CES, namely the addition of Quad SSD drives, Intel Core i7-620M processors and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M chips. We already knew the two models would have a 13.1-inch LED backlit screen, an optical Blu-ray drive and HDMI-out, but new information is always appreciated. Made from carbon fibre and aluminum, the laptops weigh less than 1.45kg.
Going back to those Quad SSD drives, you’ll be capable of writing data in parallel on up to four SSDs at 6.2 times faster speeds than usual. Two models are available for pre-ordering now, the VAIO VPCZ11Z9E and VAIO VPCZ11X9E. The main differences between the two are that the Z9E has a 2.66GHz chip but can handle an upgrade to 3.33GHz, has 6GB of DDR3 SDRAM and the Quad SSD has 256GB of storage. The 13.1-inch display is 1920 x 1080 and it weighs 1.43kg.
The X9E has a 2.4GHz chip with upgrades to 2.93GHz, and 4GB DDR3 SDRAM with 128GB Quad SSD. The 13.1-inch screen isn’t quite full HD, at 1600 x 900. It weighs a shade less than the Z9E, at 1.41kg. Both VAIO Z models will be on sale at the end of March, with prices starting at around $1,000.
AIS comes back to the rugged tablet PC market by launching the 10.4-inch Semi-Rugged Touchscreen Tablet PC. Powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, the gadget comes equipped with a LED sunlight readable touchscreen display, a GPS navigation and a 3G connectivity. Weighing at 2.6 lbs, this tablet PC also features IP54 rated water/dustproof resistance, being capable of withstanding multiple 3-foot drops thanks to its enhanced shock and vibration protection.
HP has finally released the HP Mini 2102, which is basically the same laptop as the HP Mini 210. The difference is that the HP Mini 210 is sold and marketed by HP’s consumer division, meanwhile the HP business division handles the new HP Mini 2102. Priced at $447 upwards, the HP Mini 2102 is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor with an Intel GMA 3150 graphics, a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) LCD display, a 1GB to 2GB of RAM, up to 320GB (7200RPM) hard disk drive, WiFi a/b/g/n, and an optional Bluetooth.
The latest prototype of the Dell Mini 5 Tablet has been unveiled.
The new gadget boasts a 5-inch touchscreen display with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a front facing camera.
Other important specs include WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity. The Dell Mini 5 runs the Android 1.6 operating system. Stay tuned for more updates.
